Last week marked the much-celebrated one year wedding anniversary of our Prince William & his lady wife Kate, here in ye ol' England. But there was only one royal wedding on my mind & that was the anniversary of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley and Priscilla, on May 1st...
Many often ask me how long I've been a fan of the King & all I can say is, my whole life. It's true. Elvis is in my blood!
My daddy & my mama are huge fans of Elvis & I was raised on the King & rock 'n' Roll. There is just something about him that I can't explain, he is an angel. Love Me Tender was one of my lullabies that was sung to me as a baby. One of my first dolls was called 'Mama', as a homage to 'That's Alright Mama' which was one of the first songs I learnt by heart, alongside 'Lover-Doll', as everybody thought I looked like a little dolly. That has become my pet-name ever since, as my daddy & my man say that I'm their little doll ♥
Elvis' following is like that of a religion; he is an iconic, cultural image. But enough of Elvis for the moment, if possible, because, as we all know, every king needs a queen....
It was on September 13th 1959 the beautiful, 14 year old Priscilla Ann Wagner (Beaulieu), met the charming, handsome Elvis for the first time at her home in Germany. The rest, they say, is history.
I have emulated my style on Priscilla since my late teens, early twenties & haven't really altered since. So, here's a short history in image form of Cilla looking her best in the 1960s; her true heyday as the Elvis' queen.
